What is the method for determining the location of the VR headset in a three.js environment?

Can anyone help me understand how to obtain the VR headset's position using three.js? I have successfully created a scene and am receiving live controller positions, but I am unsure on how to access the headset's position to track the user's head movements.

Answer №1

To retrieve the exact world coordinates from the camera's global matrix, you can simply use the following code snippet:

const coords = new THREE.Vector3();
coords.setFromMatrixPosition( camera.matrixWorld );

Answer №2

Ah, I finally figured it out! Huge thanks to user Mugen87 for guiding me in the right direction.

let position = new THREE.Vector3(); position.setFromMatrixPosition(camera.matrixWorld);

console.log("X position=" + position.x); console.log("Y position=" + position.y); console.log("Z position=" + position.z);
