User should clear the cache to accommodate the latest release

After each release, users are required to manually clear their cache in order for the new code to be applied. Is there a feature or method that could automate this process?

Answer №1

Have you ever considered adding a default page no-cache HTML tag?

Answer №2

When it comes to implementing a JavaScript include on a website, one simple solution is to append a query string with an incremented version number. For example, the first release could look like this:

<script src="codebase.js?v=1"></script>

Then, for the next release, you can update the query string as follows:

<script src="codebase.js?v=2"></script>

However, if you're dealing with a third-party hosted file for which you have no control over the script include, the issue becomes more complex.
