Reduce the number of days from a specified ISO date

How can I calculate the number of days between today and a date that's stored in my MongoDB database in ISO format? Your help is greatly appreciated.

let ISOdate = ISODate("2020-12-25T20:40:08.295Z")

let difference = newDate() - ISOdate;

if (difference > 45 days) { return ok }

Answer №1

When working with ISODate, keep in mind that it serves as a wrapper for the JavaScript Date object. This means you can leverage the Date methods to calculate the time disparity between two dates.

const dbDate = ISODate("2020-12-25T20:40:08.295Z");
const nowDate = new Date();
const msDifference = nowDate.getTime() - dbDate.getTime();
const daysDifference = Math.floor(msDifference / (1000 * 60 * 60 * 24));
