Javascript - How to manipulate double values without using floating points?

What kind of variable is recommended for performing calculations on double values without floating point errors?

For example, if we have x = 0.6;

We want to ensure that x*3/4 will result in 0.45 instead of 0.44999999999999996.

Answer №1

When it comes to numbers in Javascript, there is only one type - the Number.

If you need specific formatting, you can use methods like .toFixed().

For example: (0.6 * 3/4).toFixed(2) will give you 0.45.
