An unexpected issue occurred: AngularJS module error prevented from functioning properly

I'm attempting to set up a Modal popup when an image is clicked using Bootstrap Lightbox, but I can't seem to get it working. I've followed an example with the exact same code provided below. I have downloaded the Lightbox components (*.lightbox.js and *.lightbox.css) and placed them in the same directory as my HTML file. Could someone help me troubleshoot this issue?

<!doctype html>
<html ng-app="myApp">
<head>
<title>Sandesh</title>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/angularjs/1.5.6/angular.min.js"></script>
<script src="angular-bootstrap-lightbox.js"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="angular-bootstrap-lightbox.css">
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="bootstrap.min.css" />
</head>
<body ng-controller="GalleryCtrl">
  <ul>
  <li ng-repeat="image in images">
    <a ng-click="openLightboxModal($index)">
      <img ng-src="{{image.thumbUrl}}" class="img-thumbnail">
    </a>
  </li>
</ul>
<script>
var app = angular.module('myApp',['bootstrapLightbox'])
.controller('GalleryCtrl', function ($scope, Lightbox) {
   $scope.images = [
    {
     'url': '9RyWebbb.jpg',
     'thumbUrl': 'Thumb_9RyWebbb.jpg'
    }
   ];
   $scope.openLightboxModal = function (index) {
      Lightbox.openModal($scope.images, index);
   };
});
</script>
</body>
</html>

Answer №1

Before proceeding, verify that the module is named "bootstrapLightbox". If it is, import it into the module using:

var app = angular.module('myApp',['bootstrapLightbox']);

Decide whether you want to establish controllers, services, and directives within the variable or the methods:

var app = angular.module('myApp',['bootstrapLightbox']);
app.controller('GalleryCtrl', function ($scope, Lightbox) {
  // etc
});

or

angular.module('myApp',['bootstrapLightbox'])
    .controller('GalleryCtrl', function ($scope, Lightbox) {
      // etc
    });

Additionally, consider this tip: if an object is used solely within your JS code without directly affecting the DOM, it is better to use plain variables instead of declaring them on the $scope. In the given example, $scope is utilized to declare an array of "image" objects but is only accessed within the lightbox rather than in the DOM.

Therefore, the code can be optimized like so:

   var images = [
    {
     'url': '9RyWebbb.jpg',
     'thumbUrl': 'Thumb_9RyWebbb.jpg'
    }
   ];
   $scope.openLightboxModal = function (index) {
      Lightbox.openModal(images, index);
   };

I trust this information has been beneficial for you!

Successfully resolved the issue by adding extra files as shown below:

<!doctype html>
<html ng-app="myApp">
.....
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="ui-bootstrap-csp.css">
<script type="text/javascript" src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/angular-ui-bootstrap/1.3.3/ui-bootstrap.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/angular-ui-bootstrap/1.3.3/ui-bootstrap-tpls.min.js"></script>
....
....
</html>

It's also worth noting that the order of inclusion of these files is crucial; in this instance, the pop-up feature won't function if 'ui-bootstrap-tpls.min.js' is added before 'ui-bootstrap.min.js'

Thank you to everyone for their helpful suggestions :)..cheers!
