When a user clicks on a link on my website, the value in a textbox on an external website will

I'm the proud owner of a website! Within my own site, I've included a link that directs users to an external website. My question is: How can I set a value in a textbox on that external website when a user clicks the link on my own page?

Answer №1

Have you attempted to retain the handler for an open window?

var openedWindow = window.open(....

Consider alternatives to using direct links, such as passing parameters through the URL instead.

Answer №2

One method is to include additional parameters in the URL.

Simply adjust the link as needed and retrieve the URL parameter from the destination site.

(It's important to note that this approach does not account for the potential of fraudulent information being entered into the parameters.)

Answer №3

Without a specific feature in place on the website to allow for setting pre-populated form fields (such as pulling data from the query string), it's not possible.

The lack of a standard method for pre-filling forms through a link to the form page makes it challenging to accomplish this task easily.
