What is the process behind Stackoverflow's "Congratulations, you've earned a new badge" popup window?

Possible Duplicates:
Custom notify box similar to StackOverflow
Creating popup message like StackOverflow

How does StackOverflow implement the "You earned a new badge" window? (the orange one that pops up at the top of the screen, I believe it's the one that shows you the FAQ when you're not logged in).

Does anyone have a code sample to achieve this? (including the close button functionality as well?)

This exercise is a great way to practice HTML, CSS, and DOM manipulation. Check out http://jquery.com for adding effects and more.

To style your page, use these CSS rules:

#banner
{
    position: fixed;
    top: 0;
    left: 0;
    right: 0;
    background-color: #aaf;
    color: #000;
    font-size: 1.5em;
    padding: .5em;
    z-index: 100;
}

Include this HTML on your page:

<div id="banner">
    Your content here
    <a href="#" onclick="document.getElementById('banner').style.display = 'none'; return false;">close</a>
</div>

Adjust the styles to make it visually appealing. Have fun experimenting with different looks!
