What is the method for displaying the name of a JSON property?

I am trying to work with a JSON in a specific format:

{
 "nm_questionario":{"isEmpty":"MSGE1 - Nome do Questionário"},
 "ds_questionario":{"isEmpty":"MSGE1 - Descrição do Questionário"},
 "dt_inicio_vigencia":{"isEmpty":"MSGE1 - Data de Vigência"}
}

My goal is to extract the property names using JavaScript. I am looking to retrieve the names nm_questionario, dt_inicio_vigencia, and ds_questionario. I have attempted multiple methods but have not had any success.

Answer №1

Learn more about Object.keys()

var obj = {
 "nm_questionario":{"isEmpty":"MSGE1 - Nome do Questionário"},
 "ds_questionario":{"isEmpty":"MSGE1 - Descrição do Questionário"},
 "dt_inicio_vigencia":{"isEmpty":"MSGE1 - Data de Vigência"}
};
console.log(Object.keys(obj));

Answer №2

To obtain a list of keys, you can use this method:

var keys = Object.keys(JSON.parse(jsonString));
. Please note that this method is only compatible with IE9 and later versions.

Answer №3

To achieve the desired outcome, a straightforward loop will suffice. Simply iterate over all the indices and retrieve the content using object[index]

var object={"nm_questionario":{"isEmpty":"MSGE1 - Nome do Questionário"},"ds_questionario":{"isEmpty":"MSGE1 - Descrição do Questionário"},"dt_inicio_vigencia":{"isEmpty":"MSGE1 - Data de Vigência"}};
for(var index in object) {
    console.log(index);
}

Answer №4

To retrieve the property names, you can iterate over them in the following manner:

let myObject = //insert your object here
for(let propertyName in myObject) {
    if(myObject.hasOwnProperty(propertyName)) {
        let value = myObject[propertyName];
        //perform any desired operation with the property here, such as logging it to the console
    }
}
