What is the best way to push an object directly outward in the camera's view in Three.js?

My understanding is that finding a direction vector and multiplying it by the coordinates is necessary for this task, but I am unsure how to proceed with this method. Unfortunately, I have not been able to locate the information needed to find a solution.

Answer №1

The path from lens to item is:

let path = item.position.clone().sub( lens.position ).normalize();

Alternatively, if you meant "in the lens direction" as the direction in which the lens is pointing, you can refer to this earlier response.

To shift item 10 units in that path:

item.position.add(path.clone().multiplyScalar(10));
