What is the best way to have two directives interact with each other?

As a beginner in angular js, I am curious if there is a way for two directives to interact with one another. I attempted to use

require: "^mydirective"

but strangely, it did not work as expected.

Answer №1

Understanding directive hints:

[?][^][directiveName].

The symbol ^ is utilized to designate which directive controller should be used (inherited from). For instance, a directive <column-item> must locate the parent directive controller <crtl-grid>.

In essence, ^ prompts Angular to search upwards in the DOM to locate the parent directive.

The ? signifies that the directive is optional, and Angular will not raise an exception if it is not found.
