What is the best method for converting a string picture URL into an image and showcasing it in an image tag?

I have a URL for an image that looks like this:

C:\inetpub\MaujApp\OMSAPI\ManualReceivingImages\WhatsApp Image 2021-03-24 at 12.07.41 PM.jpeg

My goal is to convert the original image and display it to the user using jQuery. I would like to achieve something similar to this by utilizing jQuery and C# https://i.stack.imgur.com/OebyT.jpg

The following code will insert an image tag (<img>) inside a div container:

const imgUrl = "https://i.pinimg.com/originals/51/f6/fb/51f6fb256629fc755b8870c801092942.png"

$('#theDiv').prepend('<img id="theImg" src="'+imgUrl+'" />')
<script src="https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.3.1/jquery.min.js"></script>

<div id="theDiv">
</div>
