Utilizing Angular's File Upload feature with Glyphicon icons

Has anyone tried to open a local file using bootstrap glyphicon? I found this example at https://jsfiddle.net/JeJenny/ZG9re/, but it doesn't seem to work. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make this approach work with images like glyphicon?

main.html

<li><a href="#"><span class="glyphicon glyphicon-folder-open"><input type="file" file-model="myFile"/></span></a></li>

mainCtrl.js

$scope.uploadFile = function(){
            var file = $scope.myFile;
            console.log('file is ' );
            console.dir(file);
            var uploadUrl = "/fileUpload";
            fileUpload.uploadFileToUrl(file, uploadUrl);
        };

Answer №1

Here's the answer: It's recommended to use label instead of span as it is considered outdated.

Check out this Fiddle for more information

<a href="#" class="btn btn-info btn-lg">
<label class="glyphicon glyphicon-folder-open">  Browse
<input type="file" file-model="myFile" style="display: none;"/> </label></a>

You can also incorporate this approach for the upload button.
