Unable to obtain an HTML extension while utilizing handlebars

Sorry if this is a silly question, but I'm having trouble figuring it out. I'm using express-handlebars and trying to name my file newpage.handlebars. However, it keeps saving as a text file instead of an HTML extension, even though I want the name to be newpage.handlebrs. My friend was able to do this with his file named mypage.handlebars, but he's not around for me to ask. Here's a comparison of what he did versus what I'm doing. How can I resolve this issue? Thank you!

Answer №1

  • Duplicate the file from your friend and insert it.
  • Extract the data from your existing .handlebars document and place it in the newly duplicated file
  • Delete your original .handlebars file, then rename the copied one with the same name yours had

Answer №2

Success! I discovered that the file should actually be named newpage.handlebars. However, in order to include the html extension, you must begin with a <html> tag. Even after adding the tag, it still doesn't function correctly.
