Top choice for recording sound and video over the internet

Seeking assistance in finding solutions to enable recording audio and video via web on different platforms such as iPhone and iPad. The recorded media needs to be saved on the server. Any recommendations for a cross-browser compatible approach are appreciated.

Thank you!

Answer №1

Unfortunately, the most effective method for achieving this on desktop across all browsers would involve using Adobe Flash. For iOS, creating dedicated apps is necessary.

In the future, HTML5 may offer a Device API that could help you accomplish your objective.

Answer №2

To access your webcam and microphone, you must utilize Flash.

Unfortunately, Flash is not supported on Apple devices.

In that case, you will need to develop a native app instead. :)

Answer №3

In order to gain control over the hardware, it will be necessary to utilize a native application that can interact with the hardware drivers and API.

It is possible that Java could fulfill this requirement.

You may find a solution in this StackOverflow thread.

Update: Unfortunately, Java is not supported by iFamily either.
