Tips for Preventing Repetition of Locations on a Website for Reviewing Places

I am currently working on creating a directory specifically for hospitals, similar to the "Yellow Pages." Can anyone advise on how to avoid duplication of pages for the same hospital? I was considering using longitude and latitude registration, but it seems that Google Maps can sometimes have multiple entries for the same location.

Answer №1

There exists equations for determining the distance between latitude and longitude coordinates. If you discover that the name is distinct, you can compute the distance between two points sharing the same name. If the distance is minimal, it indicates a duplicate. If not, then it represents two separate entities. However, this method heavily relies on the uniqueness of the name. Conversely, it is possible for multiple businesses to exist at the same latitude and longitude coordinates, such as within an office building.
