Tips for managing the response from fileResult in JavaScript

The controller:

       [HttpGet]
    public FileResult Get()
    {
       //execute sql
        using (XLWorkbook wb = new XLWorkbook())
        {
            wb.Worksheets.Add(dt, "file");
            using (MemoryStream stream = new MemoryStream())
            {
                wb.SaveAs(stream);
                return File(stream.ToArray(), "application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheetml.sheet", "Data.xlsx");
            }
        }
    }

How can I implement a download feature in JavaScript for this file?

Answer №1

Have you considered opening the fileresult URL in a separate page? Here is an example:

window.open("/FileController/Get");

This will prompt the browser to recognize the FileResult and begin the download process.
