The text fetched by AJAX or JavaScript after the page has loaded is being indexed by Google

Wondering about Google:
1 - Is there a possibility for Google to recognize text fetched via ajax?
For instance, when a user makes selections from drop-down menus and information is displayed from the database.

2 - If I dynamically change the page title using JavaScript outside of the HEAD section, will Google still index the updated title?

I hope these questions aren't too basic. Thank you in advance for any responses.
Have a wonderful day :-)

Answer №1

When you turn off javascript in your browser, what Google sees is exactly what you see. Therefore, the answer to both of your questions is no.

To ensure all the data on your site is indexed properly, it's important to gracefully degrade within <noscript> tags. For instance, you could provide a user-friendly interface for browsing through all the content in your database, utilizing lists and sublists that link to relevant result pages seamlessly integrated into your site.

Important reminder: The noscript version of your site must truly reflect the content. Creating a separate version would constitute cloaking, which is against Google's guidelines (learn more here).

Update: It appears that since 2014, Google has expanded its support to include various functionalities like javascript and ajax.

Answer №2

Experiment with seo-browser.com or lynx browser to gain insight into how Google perceives your website.
