The redirect link to Facebook Messenger is functional on desktop browsers but experiences difficulties on mobile browsers

Currently, I am facing an issue with redirecting from a webpage to an m.me/?ref= Facebook link that points to a Facebook Page. The redirection works smoothly on the Desktop Browser and opens the Facebook Messenger as expected. However, when attempting the same on a mobile browser, the redirection is successful but the link fails to open the Facebook Messenger either in browser view or as an application.

Desktop browser used: Chrome.

Mobile Browsers tested: Samsung Internet, Chrome.

Various methods tried for redirecting include: window.location.href, window.open, window.location.replace

Answer №1

The primary factor for the failure was due to the browser blocking it as a popup. To resolve this, I implemented a redirection method triggered by a button click instead. The redirection technique employed: window.open
