The NextJS development server is frequently losing connection

Issue

While working on my NextJS project, I've been experiencing occasional disruptions with my development server. Whenever I update my code, I encounter random occurrences of the dev server disconnecting and displaying the error message below:

I'm using NextJS version 13.4.19 and Javascript for this project. I haven't attempted to troubleshoot yet as I'm unsure where to begin. If you have any insights, solutions, or if you've encountered a similar problem, please share with me.

Answer №1

If anyone happens to come across this situation, I encountered a similar issue with Next version 13.4.19. The problem stemmed from using node 18.16, which had a memory leak problem related to the fetch API we were utilizing for our GraphQL links. Updating to node version 18.17.1 resolved the issue successfully.
