The JMeter JSR223 Sampler and WebDriver Sampler do not support the Javascript language

I am currently working on integrating Selenium Webdriver Sampler with JMeter.

Although I have been following tutorials, I have encountered an issue where the script language dropdown in the sampler screen does not include an option for JavaScript, preventing me from running the default/example code.

Is there something that I am missing?

All the tutorials I have come across are very basic and do not provide any guidance specific to using JavaScript.

I am using JMeter version 5.3.

Thank you for your assistance.

Answer №1

  1. The tutorials all appear to be outdated because the latest version of Java no longer includes a JavaScript engine (source)
  2. As of JMeter 3.1, it is recommended to use JSR223 Test Elements and the Groovy language for scripting (source)

Therefore, you have two options:

  1. Downgrade your Java to a version that still supports the Nashorn engine (the minimum required Java version to run JMeter 5.3 is Java 8)
  2. Switch to using JSR223 Test Elements and the Groovy language for scripting
