The integration of Raphaeljs library with SmartPhones opens up a world of

I recently incorporated the incredible JavaScript library, RaphaelJS, into my website to create maps, animations, and interactive features. Interestingly, I have observed that the scripts utilizing this library function seamlessly on iPhones but encounter issues on Android devices.

Could someone please verify this claim (simply visiting the demo page of RaphaelJS will provide clarity) and if it is true, does anyone have insights on why this discrepancy exists and what potential solutions could be explored?

Thank you

In the past, the default Android browser did not support SVG until it was reintroduced with Android 2.3. An alternative solution is to use Opera Mobile, which can be downloaded for free from the Android Market and is compatible with all versions of Android.

EDIT: I made a mistake in my previous statement, it was actually Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) that included SVG support in the default browser.

2ND EDIT: It's important to disclose that I am affiliated with Opera. There may be other non-default browsers that also support SVG, but I have not tested them myself.

Android has actually supported SVG since version 2.0, although it's not enabled by default due to the WebKit default browser. For more information, check out this link:

If you're interested in enabling SVG on Android, there's a patch available, but it can be quite difficult to apply. Alternatively, I recommend downloading Opera or Mozilla Firefox for Android from the Market, both of which support SVG well (I've tested FF4 with Raphael JS).
