Strategies for terminating a $resource service in AngularJS

Currently, I am utilizing $resource in my project to make a POST request and call an API. However, there is a requirement to cancel the HTTP request after 30 seconds. How can this be implemented?

Answer №1

As per the documentation, there is an option to set a timeout parameter for actions in the $resource. If you are making a POST request using .$save or Resource.save, it can be implemented like this:

$resource('/foo/bar/:id',{id :'@id'},{
    save: {method: 'POST', timeout: 30000} // Timeout value of 30 seconds
});

Take note that the timeout parameter can either be:

a duration in milliseconds, or a promise that cancels the request upon resolution.

I haven't personally tested this yet, but I hope it provides some guidance for your situation.

Answer №2

To ensure the request can be canceled at any time, we simply include cancellable: true in the query object.

let requestData = $resource('/api/data/:id',{id :'@id'},{
query: {method: 'get', isArray: true, cancellable: true}});

let apiRequest = requestData.query({param: value});
apiRequest.$cancelRequest();
