Spotlight barn doors in Three.js are an innovative feature that

I have been experimenting with three.js to build a scene featuring spotlights.

Is there a way to achieve the barn door effect for the lights in three.js? I attempted using small cubes as barn doors to block the light, but it was not successful.

I am looking for a level of control similar to what is shown here: Barn Doors

Answer №1

In my opinion, utilizing the preset settings of a Three.js spotlight is the best approach. For a more detailed explanation, check out this demo here. You have the ability to modify parameters such as:

  • Intensity
  • Distance
  • Angle (similar to adjusting all barn doors simultaneously)
  • Penumbra
  • Decay

To replicate the effect, following your initial plan is recommended; although I would suggest using planes instead of cubes.

If you can update your original question with some code and specifics on what didn't work effectively, I can provide potential solutions for that issue.
