Run audio player in the background with Google Chrome Extension

I am working on an extension and I want to have a page with an audio player that continues to play even when I click outside of the extension. I tried using the "background" attribute in the manifest file, but it seems to only work with javascript files. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to achieve this?

Answer №1

For your specific requirements, it is recommended to either utilize a background page or an event page based on whether the need is permanent or temporary.

To implement this, simply assign a page attribute to the background property as outlined in the provided link.
