After assigning unique vertices to each face, you have the freedom to relocate each face vertex to a different position. It is also recommended to reset the face centroid, faceNormal, and vertexNormals for accuracy.
For those using WebGLrenderer, remember to include
geometry.verticesNeedUpdate = true;
