Receiving a console notification about a source map error

Recently, I started receiving this warning in my console:

"Source map error: request failed with status 404" resource URL: map resource URL: shvl.es.js.map"

Has anyone encountered this issue before? I'm unsure of what it might be?

This is my webpack file:

let mix = require('laravel-mix');

/*
 |--------------------------------------------------------------------------
 | Mix Asset Management
 |--------------------------------------------------------------------------
 |
 | Mix provides a clean, fluent API for defining some Webpack build steps
 | for your Laravel application. By default, we are compiling the Sass
 | file for the application as well as bundling up all the JS files.
 |
 */

mix.js('resources/js/app.js', 'public/js')
   .sass('resources/sass/app.scss', 'public/css');

Answer №1

To toggle the usage of source maps on and off, you can simply adjust the configuration like this:

mix.sourceMaps(!mix.inProduction())
.

Ensure that your project is running in development mode.

Here is an updated version of the mix configuration file:

let mix = require('laravel-mix');

mix.js('resources/js/app.js', 'public/js')
   .sass('resources/sass/app.scss', 'public/css')
  .sourceMaps(!mix.inProduction())
