Rearrange the position of the customized google map marker to appear just above the latitude

Can you provide guidance on how to move a customized Google Map marker above a specific latitude and longitude point?

You can view the code structure in this JSBIN: Link. I have used three object arrays for reference.

Where should I insert the "anchor" in order to position the custom icon correctly? Please advise.

Answer №1

The anchor property of the icon object can be utilized to apply an offset to the marker image.

var iconObject = {
    url: '/path/to/icon.png', //image path
    origin: new google.maps.Point(0, 0), //sprite position
    anchor: new google.maps.Point(25, 25), //icon anchor position in relation to marker
};

var markerObject = new google.maps.Marker({
    position: point,
    map: map,
    icon: iconObject
});

Additional Note:

In response to your query on where to insert this code within your codebase - ensure that you incorporate the icon as an object in the drivers array instead of a string.
