I am creating a project that involves controlling the Windows sound recorder for tasks such as starting, stopping, and saving recordings. Is there a way to do this without displaying the recorder window? I would appreciate any assistance in solving this.

While embedding an object may potentially allow for access to the recorder, this approach has not been personally tested and therefore its effectiveness remains uncertain.
Building on Machine's point, have you considered experimenting with Flash? It likely has the capability to integrate a recorder feature.
