Locate the index of an item within an array of objects based on a matching property in the

My current situation involves having an array of objects structured like this :

[ {label: "<p>Opacity | %<br/></p>", customRow: false, id: 0, items: Array(13)},
 {label: "Brand_hs_id", customRow: false, id: 0, items: Array(13)},
 {label: "<p>PPI |</p>", customRow: false, id: 0, items: Array(13)},
{label: "Brightness | %", customRow: false, id: 0, items: Array(13)
]

I am looking to locate the index of an object based on a matching label value. For instance, if I input "Brightness | %", the expected return value should be 3.

I have attempted:

const array1 = [5, 12, 8, 130, 44];

const isLargeNumber = (element) => element > 13;

console.log(array1.findIndex(isLargeNumber));
// expected output: 3

However, I am uncertain about how to achieve this when working with an array of objects.

Answer №1

Consider trying the following example:

const data = [{id: "1002", location: "USA"},
              {id: "1004", location: "Canada"},
              {id: "1006", location: "Sweden"}];

const foundIndex = data.findIndex(item => item.location === "Canada");

console.log(foundIndex); // The index of the item with location 'Canada' will be returned

Answer №2

Follow this example

let nums = [2, 5, 8, 10, 15];
const isLargeNumber = (num) => num > 8;

console.log(nums.findIndex(isLargeNumber));
