Leveraging the power of Notepad++

When I attempt to use Notepad++ for Javascript, it isn't functioning as expected. Instead of displaying the proper outcome on the web page, all I see is a jumbled mess. Currently, I am using version 6.6.7 of Notepad++.

Here's my process:

  1. Type out the code.

  2. Switch the language setting to Javascript.

  3. Try running it in Google Chrome.

But alas, this is what I end up with!?!?:

Am I not utilizing Notepad++ correctly or could there be an error within my code? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Answer №1

Change the name of your document to somefilename.html.

Answer №2

When saving your file, change the format from thing.txt to thing.html. Additionally, if you indicate that you are working on javascript but only have HTML code, selecting javascript as the language won't work until you save it as an HTML file first.

Answer №3

While the filename thing.txt may imply a text document, browsers are designed to render HTML and execute JavaScript in HTML documents.
