JavaScript Video Pop-Up Automation

Seeking a solution for a video to seamlessly and automatically appear, preferably in a lightbox format. The video should trigger as soon as the user lands on the page, play itself, and then close. Additionally, there should be an option to replay the video if desired. Importantly, this video should only activate during the initial visit to the homepage; subsequent returns to the homepage should not prompt its playback again.

Diodeus made a valid point. The stack overflow community is here to assist with specific questions, not to write full programs for one another.

You have several requirements, and I will do my best to help you organize them:

  • Embedded Media
  • Lightbox Feature
  • Auto Pop-Up
  • Saved State

Embedding media files can be tricky. A quick search on your preferred search engine should provide you with various resources for video embedding, like this link: .

Lightbox There are plenty of lightbox scripts available (check out ), so take your time to find the one that suits your needs.

Auto Pop-Up If you're utilizing jQuery, consider using the jQuery.ready function.

Saved State For tracking whether a user has visited your site before, setting a cookie is a good option. Check out http://www.quirksmode.org/js/cookies.html
