Curious about the reasoning behind counting the DOM elements
var _count = '<%=GridView1.Rows.Count %>';
var rowcount = (_count)?_count:0;
When rendering GridView, it is generated as an HTML table which can be accessed using JavaScript code like:
const gridElement = document.getElementById('<%=GridViewId.ClientID %>');
const totalRowCount = gridElement.rows.length;
Identify the ID of your gridview with jQuery
var rowCount = $('#<%=gridview.ClientID%> tr').length;
rowCount will store the total number of rows in the gridview. If it is 1, then it means there are only header rows.
