Javascript for parse.com: how to use the parseObject parse method

Can anyone assist me in finding the equivalent of the backbone model Parse method in parseObject?

I have been unable to locate it and my parse method is not being triggered.

I am looking for a way to properly parse the data retrieved from the server.
