JavaScript can be used to create a fullscreen experience without any toolbars, scrollbars, and the like, without having

Is there a way for me to expand the current window I am using to fullscreen mode and eliminate all toolbars?

Answer №1

From the general consensus: achieving this reliably is near impossible. The closest option is using window.open controls as detailed here, but these are often disabled by default in certain browsers.

Even if a solution is ultimately found, it's likely to be exploited by spammers and subsequently shut down due to being a significant security vulnerability.

Answer №2

It is not possible to achieve that action. The level of control you have only extends to determining which window components are visible when using the window.open method.

Answer №3

Encourage your website visitors to use the F11 key for an immersive experience ;-)

In all seriousness, disabling the ability to exit full-screen mode should not be done and is not recommended.

Answer №4

If you're looking to restrict the browsing capabilities of Internet Explorer, consider using its "kiosk mode." This feature has proven effective in touch-screen applications based on my experience.
