Issues with the Node Package Manager's watch command functionality

Having installed the frontend dependency in my Vue.js project, I attempted to run the command npm run watch. I updated the scripts section in package.json as shown below-

 "scripts": {
    "dev": "npm run development",
    "development": "cross-env NODE_ENV=development node_modules/webpack/bin/webpack.js --progress --hide-modules --config=node_modules/laravel-mix/setup/webpack.config.js",
    "watch": "npm run development -- --watch",
    "watch-poll": "npm run watch -- --watch-poll",
    "hot": "cross-env NODE_ENV=development node_modules/webpack-dev-server/bin/webpack-dev-server.js --inline --hot --config=node_modules/laravel-mix/setup/webpack.config.js --disable-host-check",
    "prod": "npm run production",
    "production": "cross-env NODE_ENV=production node_modules/webpack/bin/webpack.js --no-progress --hide-modules --config=node_modules/laravel-mix/setup/webpack.config.js"
},

However, upon attempting this, I encountered the following error message:

[webpack-cli] Error: Unknown option '--hide-modules' [webpack-cli] Run 'webpack --help' to see available commands and options npm ERR! code ELIFECYCLE npm ERR! errno 2 npm ERR! [email protected] development:

Answer №1

It seems like there may be an issue with webpack. Please try the following solution:

npm uninstall webpack-dev-server
npm install <a href="/cdn-cgi/l/email-protection" class="__cf_email__" data-cfemail="1234567890ABCDEF">[email protected]</a> --dev
npm run serve
