Is there a way to reverse the JSON.stringify method?

I need help with decoding a string that contains arrays and JS objects which were originally converted using JSON.stringify function. Can someone guide me on how to accomplish this? Thank you for your assistance.

Answer №1

JSON.parse allows you to accomplish this task.

You can find numerous examples across the vast space of the internet.

Even jQuery includes a shim for this function (though not compatible with IE6, possibly 7): jQuery.parseJSON. This is applicable if you are utilizing jQuery.

One way to approach this is by utilizing the eval method, but a more recommended approach would be using JSON.parse. To learn more about this topic, feel free to visit the following link: http://www.json.org/js.html
