Is it possible to synchronize Vue data values with global store state values?

I need help updating my data values with values from store.js. Whenever I try the code below, I keep getting a blank page error.

Here's how I have it set up in App.vue:

data() {
    return {
    storeState: store.state,
    Counter: this.storeState.Counter,
    }
    }

And here is what my store.js file looks like:

   export const store = {
         state: {
         Counter: 1,
         }

     CounterUpdater(value) {
     this.state.Counter = (value);
     },
     }

Answer №1

Instead of referencing a data property (storeState) within the data option, utilize computeds to sync component values with Vuex values. Remove both data values:

computed: {
  Counter() {
    return this.$store.state.Counter;
  }
}

Alternatively, you can use mapState:

import { mapState } from 'vuex'
computed: {
  Counter() {
    ...mapState(['Counter'])
  }
}

Additionally, ensure that your store mutation is placed within mutations and follows the correct syntax:

state: {
  Counter: 1
},
mutations: {
  CounterUpdater(state, value) {
     state.Counter = value;
  }
}

It's also advisable to adhere to the camelCase convention when naming variables (i.e. using lowercase counter in your code)
