Looking for a way to prevent backspace navigation throughout my entire application. Is there a solution that can be implemented in one place for the whole app?
Looking for a way to prevent backspace navigation throughout my entire application. Is there a solution that can be implemented in one place for the whole app?
angular.module('yourModule', [])
.controller('yourController', ['$scope', '$document', function($scope, $document) {
$document.on('keydown', function(e){
if(e.which === 8 && ( e.target.nodeName !== "INPUT" && e.target.nodeName !== "SELECT" ) ){ // additional elements can be added inside the brackets.
e.preventDefault();
}
});
}
]);
This code snippet prevents backspace navigation unless an input field is active.
Currently, the code does not handle backspace for textareas.
For a demonstration, check out this demo link
Here is the correct method:
validateExit.$inject = ['$window'];
function validateExit($window) {
return {
restrict: 'A',
link: function() {
$window.onbeforeunload = function() {
return "Are you absolutely certain you wish to navigate away?";
}
}
}
}
app.directive('validateExit', validateExit);
After including your ng-app in index.html, add the attribute validate-exit
;
<body ng-app="app" validate-exit>
If you want to create a custom keypress event handler, you can refer to this guide. In the callback function for the event, simply include the line e.preventDefault();
to prevent the default behavior when the backspace key is pressed.
