Is it possible to apply changes to the texture of a 3D object using WebGL and JavaScript after converting it from JSON format?

At the moment, I am fairly new to webgl and that's why I am reaching out with this question. I understand if some people may be frustrated with me for asking this, but I want to apologize in advance.

Imagine I have a 3D object like a car or a human body. If I convert that 3D object to json for webgl, will I be able to manipulate the skin of that 3D object from webgl/javascript?

Answer №1

Absolutely, you have the ability to manipulate the material at hand.

For further reference, check out: http://example.com/material-manipulation

In the provided link, you'll notice that each element is a standalone entity that also contains data on which specific material corresponds to each part of the model. There are numerous methods to customize the appearance of the object, but the bottom line remains unchanged - it can be done, and the choice is yours on how to approach it.

I trust this information proves beneficial.
