iframe-based cross-site file upload

I created an image uploading API and implemented a jQuery plugin that utilizes an iframe for the upload process. However, due to the API's domain being different, I am unable to retrieve the return data from the iframe. Is there a solution to accessing this data within the iframe?

Answer №1

Utilizing postMessage enables the transmission of messages between iframes via strings. In case you are seeking to do so, consider base64 encoding your image source.

For other alternatives, hash polling technique or postMessage can be utilized depending on their compatibility.

To delve deeper into these methods, I recommend searching for detailed articles online as it would be too lengthy to provide all the information here. While this might not be a complete solution, it should guide you in the right direction for further research.
