When accessing Google Maps on Safari, zooming in can be frustratingly slow on both Windows and Mac. The experience feels glitchy, with the zoom starting, freezing, then finally finishing. In comparison, Chrome provides a much smoother and faster zooming experience on both devices.
Whether using Google's site or the JS API on my own website, the slowness persists on Safari. However, when testing OpenStreetMap.org, I found that it performed quickly on both Safari and Chrome.
This issue is also being discussed on Apple forums and other threads, but no solutions have been found to improve the performance of the JS API on my web app.
It begs the question: is Apple intentionally making Google Maps perform poorly on Safari, or is it vice versa?
