How can I create a fade-in effect using Vue.js?

    let elementToFade = document.getElementById("detail-poster")
    let fadeEffect = setInterval(function () {
      if (!elementToFade.style.opacity) {
        elementToFade.style.opacity = 1
      }
      if (elementToFade.style.opacity > 0) {
        elementToFade.style.opacity -= 0.1
      } else {
        clearInterval(fadeEffect)
      }
      this.num = (this.num + 1) % this.backDropImage?.backdrops.length
    }, 200)
  }

I have successfully implemented a vanilla JavaScript fade out effect, but I am struggling to create a fade in effect. Does anyone know how to achieve this using plain JavaScript?

Answer №1

To achieve a fade-in effect, you need to do the opposite of what was done in the previous fade-out example. Start at an opacity of 0 and gradually increase it until it reaches 1.

let fadeInTarget = document.getElementById("detail-image");
    let fadeInEffect = setInterval(function () {
      if (!fadeInTarget.style.opacity) {
        fadeInTarget.style.opacity = 0;
      }
      if (fadeInTarget.style.opacity < 1) {
        fadeInTarget.style.opacity += 0.1;
      } else {
        clearInterval(fadeInEffect);
      }
    }, 200);
