Guide on utilizing AngularJS Filter service without HTML for Chrome extension development

Currently, I am attempting to utilize the filter service in AngularJS within my Chrome extension. However, I am unsure of how to properly obtain and inject it into my function. At this time, my code looks like:

chrome.contextMenus.onClicked.addListener(function(info, tab) {
    result = $filter('filter')(jsonArray, info.selectionText, function (actual, expected) {
        return actual.toString().toLowerCase().indexOf(expected.toLowerCase()) == 0;
    });
    console.log(sug);
});

Unfortunately, I am encountering an error: $filter is not defined. Additionally, I would like to incorporate the $http service to retrieve my jsonArray.

Answer №1

Whenever $filter is used, it is necessary to include the dependency for it. This can be achieved by passing $filter as a parameter to the main function.

If adding inside a controller:

.controller('MainCtrl', function($scope, $filter) {
  $scope.originalText = 'hello';
  $scope.filteredText = $filter('uppercase')($scope.originalText);
});

If adding inside a factory or service:

app.factory('myService', ['$filter', function($filter)

For more information, you can refer to this link: Inject dateFilter in a service in AngularJs

Answer №2

The correct method is as follows:

let customInjector = angular.injector(["ng"]);
let $formatter = customInjector.get("$formatter");
