Firebug is failing to display the error warning in the bottom right corner

I am experiencing an issue where the firebug tool is no longer displaying the small red 'X' icon in the bottom right corner on my localhost development environment.

Could it be possible that I accidentally altered a specific setting?

Even after intentionally introducing an error in my .js file, I am not seeing any indication of it!

Answer №1

To enable the console for local files in Firebug, simply click the drop-down menu located beside the "Console" tab.

Answer №2

Quite a few asynchronous callbacks tend to mask errors, meaning that any errors occurring within the callback may not be visible in debugging tools like Firebug or other just-in-time debuggers. Nevertheless, enabling "Break on All Errors" in Firebug will cause it to halt. Make sure to check this option in the Script tab settings.

Are you incorporating TrimPath? It has been known to suppress errors as well.

Answer №3

I must confess, I'm not entirely sure about that. However, in my past experience, I've encountered firebug complications and found that performing a quick reinstallation, which only takes about 2 minutes, typically resolves the issue.

Answer №4

Have you implemented a similar code snippet in your JavaScript?

window.onerror = function(){
    return true;
};

By using this code, you can prevent any standard error handling behavior.

Answer №5

Can you tell me if the Firebug icon appears yellow or grey? A grey icon indicates that Firebug is either turned off or all panels are disabled.
