Exploring the foundations of web development with html and stylus

If you have experience with the roots platform, you are familiar with its default stack including jade, stylus, and coffee script.

The documentation provides some information on using HTML, CSS, and pure JavaScript instead of the compiled languages, but does not mention the option to pick and choose.

In my case, I only require HTML and JS, but would like to utilize Stylus. Can someone who has worked with roots before guide me on how to set this up?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Answer №1

For an easy solution, simply modify the file extension from .css to .styl and you should be all set. You can also create your own default template using this method. Check out the following links for more information on templates:

If you are working with Roots V2, keep in mind that there is a pre-release version of Roots V3 available here: pre-release - visit the repository at https://github.com/jenius/roots/tree/v3

Roots V3 has seen significant improvements with internal components now separated into distinct modules such as Accord for compilation, Ship for deployment, Charge for server management, Sprout for templating, and an enhanced plugin interface.

When it comes to compiling different file types, the process remains quite similar between V2 and V3 projects, mainly involving changing file extensions.
