Expanding Your jQuery Library from a Content Delivery Network

As of now, I have a jQuery hosted on my FTP along with other web files. YSlow recommends using a CDN for jQuery. However, I am wondering how I can extend that jQuery. Is it possible to add custom functions to it without being able to edit the original code? Thank you! lol!

Answer №1

To enhance your jQuery experience, create a custom file containing your personalized functions.

If you want to expand the capabilities of jQuery, it is recommended to utilize its dedicated plug-in system.

Answer №2

Regardless of whether you're using the jQuery library from your own server or a Content Delivery Network (CDN), introducing new functions follows the same process.

jQuery.fn.customFunctionName = function(){};

This customization should be made within your own JavaScript files, avoiding any modifications to the core jQuery library file itself.
