Escaping Special Characters in JavaScript

My form is quite simple with two textboxes. When I click a button, I combine the contents of the textboxes using a delimiter. Is there a hidden delimiter that cannot be typed into an HTML textbox, even when using the &#xxx; syntax?

Answer №1

Is concatenation really necessary? Why not consider using JSON instead?

An uncomplicated and secure concatenation format could look like this:

<length of string one> <space> <string one> <string two>

For instance

'apple' + 'banana' => '5 applebanana'

Answer №2

If you wish to prevent certain characters from being entered, you will need to implement JavaScript code to block them or sanitize the input by removing them before combining the data.

Answer №3

Ensuring the safety of user input is crucial in textfields as they have the ability to accept any type of input.
