DOM malfunction in JavaScript

Is it possible to load a flawed DOM tree in JavaScript?

For instance, if someone neglects to close a tag...

Answer №1

Is the current page an HTML document? If so, the browser will automatically close (and potentially attempt to correct) certain elements that may initially seem flawed. The DOM you are currently reading is the corrected version. However, if the page is actually faulty (or does not adhere to standards), different browsers will make different attempts to rectify it. Depending on the extent of the issues, this may or may not be acceptable. If your goal is cross-browser functionality, then this could pose a problem.
