Deactivate the Landscape orientation feature on your AMP website

Is it feasible to prevent landscape mode in an AMP site without the ability to add custom JavaScript or event listeners?

Answer №1

In my opinion, the operating system behavior cannot be modified through a website

One way to achieve this is by using CSS media query techniques. For example, you can display the portrait view in landscape mode by manipulating the CSS.

<style amp-custom>
@media screen and (min-width: 320px) and (max-width: 767px) and (orientation: landscape) {
  html {
    transform: rotate(-90deg);
    -ms-transform: rotate(-90deg); /* IE 9 */
    -webkit-transform: rotate(-90deg); /* Chrome, Safari, Opera */
    transform-origin: left top;
    width: 100vh;
    overflow-x: hidden;
    position: absolute;
    top: 100%;
    left: 0;
  }
}
</style>
