Collaborate by sharing local storage with other systems

One of my systems (x.x.x.x: 8000) creates a localstorage after logging in. Now, when a user interacts with another system (x.x.x.x: 8001) by clicking a specific button, the information stored in the initial system's localstorage (x.x.x.x: 8000) is needed. Is there a way to allow this localstorage to be shared between systems?

Appreciate any insights on this matter.

Answer №1

For those seeking a solution, consider exploring the capabilities of this library: Cross Storage

With Cross Storage, multiple domains can effectively share localStorage. Give it a try!

Answer №2

When it comes to web storage (local storage & session storage), data can only be stored per origin (per domain & protocol). This means that browsers are unable to share data between different origins. For more information on local storage across different domains, check out this helpful explanation found in the provided link.

Answer №3

If you are looking to share localStorage between subdomains, there is a helpful thread dedicated to this topic. Check it out here: use localStorage across subdomains

One approach you could take is using the IFRAME technique as recommended. You can load a page from one subdomain into an IFRAME on another subdomain before the user interaction occurs. This way, you can store and retrieve the necessary data across subdomains seamlessly.
